“请假”用英语怎么说？首先排除“ask holiday”

Vacation：可作名词和动词

作名词时，一般表示比较长的假期,多指大学的假期

如：

summer vacation 暑假   

winter vacation   寒假

The job includes two weeks' paid vacation.

这份工作包括两周的带薪假期。

作动词时，意思是度假

He looked tanned and well rested after his vacation.

度假之后，他皮肤晒得黝黑，精神焕发。

Holiday：也可作名词和动词

作为名词时，意为假期; 假日，节日(尤指国家庆典日)

Christmas holiday is the biggest holiday in many Western countries. 

在很多西方国家，圣诞节是最重要的假期。

作为动词时，意为度假; 休假

She was holidaying with her family in Ireland.

她当时正和家人在爱尔兰度假。

Leave：通常是自己申请的休假

I'm still due 15 day's leave.

我还有15天的休假。

Day off：指不用上班的日子，休息日，例如周末

The rest of the men had the day off.

其余的人放假一天。
